And I've got the line-editing blues... (for you)

I don't think we've thanked The Rolling Stones enough for giving us as many bops as they have. After all, what else would anyone sing at three in the morning?

As most (some?) of you know, my dear friend Cheyenne & I have been working diligently on our dystopian novel, a story called "Yellow". Although we finished our first draft four months ago, we've been extremely busy with editing. Now, we're on draft (5?)(6?) and we are in the process of something called line-editing. For those who don't know what that is, it's basically reading the story very...very slowly in order to catch any spelling/grammar errors. Also, we've been rewriting several scenes, rewording paragraphs, removing repetitive terms and replacing them with synonyms that fit the mood. Needless to say, the process is exhausting.

Anywho, I now see why so many people pick the traditional publishing route. Hell, it would be a hell of a lot easier to pay someone to edit all of my work for me, and I wouldn't find myself spending countless hours working on one single chapter and reading it so many times that my eyes start to bleed. But, that's just the beauty of self-publishing. When it's all said and done, regardless of the billions of hours I've (we've) spent analyzing the text, it ends up being the best version of the story possible, because we did it all ourselves.

I better go, for our beta readers have been patiently waiting for their copy of "Yellow", and there's still some editing that needs to be done before they can get their hands on it (oh, the wonders of procrastination & the joys of life's cruel interruptions).

Cheers to many more hours of excruciating editing!!!!! (sigh)

Yellow is coming ... eventually ... :-)
